I AM GOING TO LIST THE VISITS AND PHONE CALLS ME AND ANTHONY HAVE HAD WITH PAYTON SINCE SHE HAS BEEN IN FOSTER CARE.

You will notice a change after I was ruled out to take her and since Anthony has been ruled out of being her daddy. She suddenly won't talk to us when we call on the phone but is glad to see us and cries to go with us when we visit her in New York...in person.

 

She has been seeing a theripist and we think she is being brain-washed not to have anything to do with us. We continue to send cards and gifts for EVERY holiday on the calender and have just recently started making t-shirts with our faces on them and sending them to her. We are going to make a DVD to give her of these videos throughout this website and other great ideas to keep her knowing her West Virginia family!

May 9, 2007 6:00pm  I (Gran) and my daughter (Aunt Heather) talked to Payton through her foster mother Teresa. Payton sounded happy and talked to me for a long time before giving the phone back to the foster mother. Teresa told me she is a single foster mother with no other foster children. A fill-in type until other arrangements are made for Payton. No one had told her that Payton was only suppose to take a bath every other day because of her dry skin problem. I was surprised that her other grandparents or her mother who are all there in New York had not told her this very important instruction!

 

I had been so worried about Payton and if she was ok and who she was with and after talking to Teresa I was very releived. Teresa seemed nice enough to keep my granddaughter untill I could make other arrangements. (Documented Notebook Entry)

May 28, 2007 Finally Anthony was able to talk to his daughter after many tries by calling Poor McNutt to make arrangements. He never called him back so I gave him the foster mother's phone number myself and he tried calling there with no answer. Teresa called my house where the family were there for Memorial Day dinner and Anthony talked to Payton then. May 30, 2007 6:20pm   I called Teresa to talk to Payton. Teresa said Payton won't eat nothing but chicken nuggets. Her dinner the other day was chicken nuggets, cheezit crackers and jello and was having chicken nuggets then too, while talking to me. Neither got back with me. I also called the Law guardian for the child Mrs. Dollys and left a message and she called me back. I asked her the status of Payton's case and ask why is she still in foster care when I am willing to take her. June 14, 2007 6:23pm Foster mother called and said Payton wanted to talk to Gran. I talked to Payton for a long time. Then the foster mother got on the phone and said Payton is doing fine. She asked me what ideas I have to give her to eat. I told her that when she is at my house I fix home-cooked meals with several foods such as Barbequed Chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, and rolls. I said we all sit around the table and do not force her to eat or talk about the food much, we just eat and have small conversations, she will see us all eating and will just do what we do. I told her she has tried everything at some point by doing it this way and eventually she will learn to eat other foods.

She was wondering about her constipation and I told her my remedy for that is prune juice every morning, just a little and then when she clears up, stop the prune juce down to mabe once a week. (Documented Notebook Entry)

October 2, 2007  10:15am to 12:30pm  Anthony, my dad, and myself  went to New York for a hearing and visited Payton through Poor McNutt at the DSS building in a room. Mr. McNutt picked Payton up from day care and brought her to the building. She was very happy to see us and had fun opening her presents. About noon Mr. McNutt said we could go to McDonals and get her some food, so me and my dad went out and got food and brought it back. When time for us to go Payton cried after us and wanted to go with us. Mr. McNutt said we could come again the next day and visit.

 

October 3, 2007  10:30am to 12:30pm Visited Payton again in the DSS building. She was a little tired and kept yawning. We played with her in the floor and we let her watch some home videos of when she was at my house in February 2007. Payton cried and screamed to go with us.

 

October 7, 2007  6:03pm  Anthony called Teresa to talk to Payton but when Teresa asked if she wanted to talk to Daddy, Payton said "no". Teresa said I could call Wednesday and talk to her. (Documented Notebook Entry)

She said she has changed jobs and babysitters and Payton gets sleepy at 6:30pm now. I asked her if her day care was an actual day care center or is it just an individual? October 17, 2007  6:00pm....Wednesday....I called to talk to Payton. Teresa said Payton said "no" and the foster worker (Poor McNutt) said if Payton says "no"...don't force her to talk. Teresa told me she could call back on Sunday.

October 20, 2007  Payton's birthday (3 years old) 9:45am...Saturday... I called to talk to Payton but got answering maching and so I left message to tell Payton Happy Birthday from Gran.
~10:04am Teresa called my me with Payton on the phone and talked to an excited birthday girl!! She talked a lot about her birthday plans. I asked Teresa for her address so we could send her birthday cards. I offered to send her a halloween costume that I bought. She said she already has one. November 21, 2007  5:55pm  Wednesday....Teresa called my  house and said that she is on a road trip with Payton going to her parents and is at a rest stop for a few minutes if I could call soon before she gets out on the busy highway.

December 26, 2007 6:44pm  I called to talk to Payton but got answering machine and left a message asking if she received the second package of Christmas presents yet and to talk to Payton. She called back but I didn't talk to Payton.

 

January 2, 2008 6:05pm  I called to talk to Payton but got answering machine and left a message. She called back at 6:11pm and said she was getting Payton a happy meal at McDonalds. They were running late going home and stopped to eat. I talked to Payton for a little while

February 17, 2008...Sunday I called to talk to Payton and she said "Hi, Gran!!" then handed the phone to Teresa. I asked Teresa if she would be willing to bring Payton halfway to see me and Anthony every other month just like the Custody/Visitation from Schenectady. I told her that she would be reimbursed for that by the DSS. She seemed agreeable and said she would have to ask Poor McNutt first.

 

February 20, 2008...Wednesday  I called to talk to Payton but she said "no" and Teresa said call back in a few minutes, I called back but Payton still said "no". I asked Teresa if she had talked to Mr. McNutt yet about the halfway plan. She said that Mr. McNutt said that would be "unappropriate".

 

February 24, 2008 6:01pm   I called to talk to Payton but she said "no" .  I can hear Payton in the background saying "no" so I don't think Teresa is lying. Teresa says the same thing every time. "It's Gran. Do you want to talk to Gran?......Are you sure?....She would really like to talk to you." If Payton says "no", Teresa tells me to call back in about 10 minutes. So I called again but she still said "no" after the same spill. I have tried telling Teresa to tell Payton that Gran wants to talk to her about her coloring books, crayons, her book I brought to her at the last visit....ect...Nothing seems to work.

 

February 27, 2008  6:01pm  I called to talk to Payton. Teresa said "It's Gran! Do you want to talk to Gran?" I heard her say "yeah!!!" in the background but Teresa said "Are you sure?".......................and on with her same thing.  I didn't say anything because mabe I'm just hearing things.

 

March 2, 2008 6:02pm  I called to talk to Payton. She said "no". So I asked Teresa what is she doing. She said she is eating.

 

March 5, 2008  6:01pm  I called to talk to Payton. She said "no". I asked Teresa what is she doing and she said they are play pretend Payton is the mommy and she is the baby. I asked her if she could do me a favor and have her BORED when it's time for me to call? She said she would see what she can do.

 

March 9, 2008 6:01pm  I called to talk to Payton. She said "no".  I asked her what is she doing. She said Payton is helping her wrap a present with her child-safe scissors. I asked her again if she could make sure she is NOT DISTRACTED with something that she loves to do when it is time for me to call? She said she would try.

 

March 12, 2008  6:01pm  I called to talk to Payton. She said "no". I was at my parents for my birthday and told Teresa that. Her and Payton sang Happy birthday to me. Then Teresa tried to get her to talk to me. But she said "no"

 

I lost track of the calls to Payton. I called every Wednesday and Sunday a little after 6:00pm. Sometime in May my job was scheduled around those times and I could only call one of those assigned days. Payton just kept saying "no" Until one time I skipped about three times of calling her and THEN she DID talk to me!!

Anthony works on Wednesdays but calls every Sunday around 6:20pm. Payton says "no" she doesn't want to talk to him.
